Federal crimes are very different from state felony crimes

Federal criminal charges are some very serious charges that can often lead to very severe penalties. While some people think of federal charges in the same way as they view state felony charges, the proceedings for each type of these charges are very different. If you are facing federal charges, you need to be aware of some of the intricacies of the federal criminal court system.

One of the big differences when it comes to federal charges and state felony charges is that you can face the death penalty for 60 crimes on the federal level, but not all of the federal convictions that can result in the death penalty involve a murder. The three crimes that can result in the death penalty but don't involve murder are treason, espionage and large-scale drug trafficking.

When you think about the severity of the penalties associated with federal convictions, you can see why you need to start building your defense as soon as you know that you are facing these charges. A crucial part of developing your defense is going through the evidence that is being used against you. By doing this, we have the opportunity to answer each point that will be used against you.

We know that you don't want to have to face the severe penalties that are associated with these crimes. While we can't promise you that you won't face any penalties, we work aggressively to help keep the penalties that you will face to a minimum. We work with you to ensure that we are accurately represented throughout the court process.
