Parents set violent example for boy, now charged with murder

A 12-year-old boy has been brought from Minnesota to Omaha, and he's now facing charges for murder. He and two others—his 17-year-old brother and a 15-year-old boy—have been accused of shooting and killing a 31-year-old man. Another man, who is 30 years old, was hurt in the alleged shooting.

It appears that the boys talked to the men about a drug deal involving marijuana, but their real goal was just to lure them there and rob them. At some point, shooting broke out and the man was killed.

Looking into the young man's background, it can be seen that he had two parents who set a very violent example for him when he was growing up. His mother had been charged and convicted of a violent crime, and she spent time behind bars for her actions.

His father is still in jail right now, as he's been given a life sentence. He is 37 years old, and he was arrested in Minnesota back in 2010.

Ironically, the charges for the father sound very similar to the ones his sons now face. He was also involved in an attempted robbery, and marijuana was once again part of the process. After the killing, he was charged with murder in the first degree.

It is believed that all of the boys, even the 12-year-old, were connected to gangs.

When minors are charged with crimes in Kansas City, it is very important for them to know their legal rights and their options, as these can differ significantly in some cases from the rights and options that are open to adults facing the same charges.
