Teen gets murder charges in Kansas

A couple in Wichita, Kansas, was killed, and the police have now charged a teen with the crime. The young man is just 17 years old. According to the court records, he is facing two charges for first-degree murder, and he will also face another count for aggravated robbery.

The man will not be 18 until January 2015. As such, the courts are going to be trying him as a juvenile.

The man who was killed was 72 years old, and his wife was 71. Both of them had apparently been shot numerous times, and they were then left in the house while it was robbed. The police became alerted to what had happened when the couple's son came to the home and found the bodies.

The incident happened back on the Oct. 16. The home can be found on South Ida, close to the intersection between Washington and Kellogg.

When asked about the incident, though, the man's family stressed that they did not feel that he was guilty. They did conceded that he had had a rough life and faced some troubles because of it, but they did not feel that he could be responsible for the killings. Most of these statements came from the young man's aunt.

She said that she hoped the police were able to find the right person so that her nephew was not charged, citing a desire for the right person to face those charges.

In cases like this, people in Kansas always have the right to a fair trial, and it is important for those who have been charged to know what legal options they have.
