Man pleads guilty to murdering two area women

A Northland, Kan., man pleaded guilty to killing two women during a 2011 spree, according to local sources. The man, age 27, has enlisted the assistance of a public defender to mount his criminal defense in the case. Authorities report that the man admitted to killing a 40-year-old woman and another 24-year-old woman. He pleaded guilty to two first-degree murder counts in connection with the slayings. He is also charged with two counts of abandonment of a corpse.

Teens accused of massive damage at Menard's store

Authorities report that the boys spilled paint and damaged equipment, among other allegations.

Son of alleged mob boss faces weapons, meth charges

It seems that criminal charges sometimes run in the family. The son of an accused mob boss from Kansas City has made an initial court appearance in connection with weapons and drug charges, according to local media reports. The 59-year-old man was relatively quiet in court, where he was officially charged with possessing a 9mm handgun while high on methamphetamine. The charges were levied because of an incident on Feb. 22 2012, according to local authorities.

Teen accused of shooting at school bus on morning route

Even though more national attention has been devoted to stopping gun crimes among kids, scores of youngsters still face charges each year for firearms violations. One Kansas City teen has been accused of shooting a gun at a school bus after the bus driver refused to allow him to board. The incident happened on Jan. 23, when the boy attempted to board the school bus destined for Ruskin High School during the morning pick-up. He is facing juvenile charges of attempted assault and armed criminal action, according to local prosecutors.
