Kansas man charged with supporting terrorism

Being charged with a felony is frightening. Your actions that you thought were totally on the up-and-up were actually illegal, and now you are going before a judge who may fine you and put you in prison. A felony arrest is not a small matter. You need to be sure to engage the services of a good attorney if you see that this is what you are being brought up on charges for.

Recently, for example, four men, one of whom is from Overland Park, Kansas, were indicted by a federal grand jury in Ohio for allegedly plotting to assist middle-eastern terror groups who are fighting U.S. forces. The 35-year-old man from Overland Park moved to this area in 2007 and then left the area in 2011. It is said that this man was an American citizen who studied at Ohio State before he relocated to Overland Park, Kansas.

The information provided by the indictment states that the one of the men tried to travel to Yemen in order to raise funds for Anwar al-Awlaki who was a key al-Qaida leader in the Arabian Peninsula. However, he perished due to a drone attack in Yemen in 2011.

The other three men were from Ohio. There was a 37-year-old man, a 36-year-old and a 40-year-old man as well. The charges say that in early 2005 the four men conspired to provide equipment, supplies and funds to the terrorist leader. One of the men allegedly traveled to Yemen in 2009 and gave approximately $22,000 to the terrorist organization.

Who is to say that this is illegal? How is this proven? Isn't this up to the prosecutor to prove? Knowing your rights under the law is important. Getting fierce representation can be a true help at a time like this.
