Darren Sharper enters multiple guilty pleas

Former All-Pro safety Darren Sharper will be spending almost the next decade of his life in prison; as a result of guilty plea agreements reached with prosecutors in multiple states. Last March, Sharper was arrested and charged with sexual assault and drug possession charges stemming from an incident where he reportedly met two women in a West Hollywood nightclub and later having sex with them after drugging their drinks.

How to handle a police stop

If you asked someone if they enjoy getting stopped by the police, chance are that they will say no. There may be a few that say that they don’t mind, but don’t take solace in their statements. They’re lying to you. Getting stopped by the police is generally an unpleasant experience, even if you don’t end up with a ticket. But with how careful officers are these days, there is no fault in knowing how to handle a stop so that you can avoid additional legal issues.

Drivers who are 'high' may be safer than drunk drivers

Because of how our society feels about drunk driving, chances are that people may believe that driving while under the influence of marijuana can be more dangerous than driving while under the influence of alcohol. After all, with so many people who are injured or killed in alcohol related accidents, and the taboo behind marijuana, it simply makes sense that drivers will be that much more dangerous with an illicit drug in their bloodstream.

Should I take the plea deal?

If you have been charged with driving under the influence, chances are that at your first appearance, the prosecutor will ask if you are going to plead guilty or not guilty. Part of this discussion will involve an offer for a plea agreement, which is what the prosecution is willing to do to settle the matter before trial. In fact, plea agreements are fairly common in criminal matters. It is estimated that more than 80 percent of criminal matters are resolved before trial.
