Kansas man facing repeat sex crimes charges

A man from Wichita, Kansas, is facing serious charges in connection with the alleged trafficking and sexual exploitation of an area teenager. The man is accused of more than one sex crime in connection with the alleged incidents. The 16-year-old girl admitted to authorities that she had served as a prostitute and drug distributor for the man. In addition to the sex crimes charges, the man is facing allegations of drug possession after he was reportedly found with 3.5 grams of cocaine near an elementary school.

The man remains in custody in Sedgwick County, as he has not been able to post the $1 million bond for his own release. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for late November in connection with the alleged crimes.

The girl alleges that the 25-year-old man forced her to engage in sexual acts. He also offered to sell the girl's sexual services, according to authorities, who say they found out about the situation in late October. The girl had been living with the man for about a month at an area motel, according to initial reports.

This is not the first time that the man has been accused of an inappropriate relationship with a child. When the man was 16, he was accused of assaulting a 13-year-old. The man pleaded guilty to the charge of aggravated indecent liberties with a child in 2005, and he subsequently spent time in a correctional mental health facility. He has repeatedly failed to follow sex offender registration regulations, according to state officials, who claim that the man had not checked in with his parole officer for some time.

In this case, the defendant has spent time in a mental health facility designed to help him recover from the illness that ostensibly plagues him. A mentally ill individual can act out of character, committing acts that he or she would otherwise never dream of doing. Criminal defense attorneys can help mentally ill defendants learn more about their specific rights in a court of law, providing them with the protection they need to maximize the outcome of their criminal cases.
